Thought of You

Thought of You is a lovely animated short by Ryan Woodward.  Figure drawing, 2d animation, contemporary dance and music are combined into a thoughtful animation. The drawings are simple and beautiful with fluid, natural movement. 

A look at HTML5 in action

More than 50 years ago, the criminal justice system was both the same and very different. The Burton Abbott case is one of the best examples of this contrast – or lack thereof.

Executing Abbott: 50 years later is nice example of HTML5 design and what kind of interactive experience that can be created with it. It’s just one part of a larger project called Behind Bars, a report on incarceration in California. The work is by a team of 14 journalists at the News21 project at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. The whole project is well done and worth spending some time with.

An ad on the New York Times’ home page caught my eye this week. It was for an eleven part documentary series on the economic issues of Braddock Pa. I’m from Western Pennsylvania and went to college in Pittsburgh, so I was curious as to what this film was about.

The tools to create a great looking and sounding film are becoming less expensive all the time. It’s exciting to see what filmmakers are posting online. I’ve been seeing some rather interesting experimental storytelling in short videos.
