The movie title stills collection

The opening design of a film — the editing of the first scene, the music and title sequence — sets the mood. Here’s a web site with many title slides organized by year.

Web designer Christian Annyas has made screenshots of the titles of  hundreds of movies and created a great website. It’s a history of title design from 1920 until today. It’s also an interesting look at typography design through the years. It’s a very nice reference resource and is searchable.
